The first look to hit the runway in our 2018 Haute Couture Collection is inspired by the traditional Penobscot Cornhusk Doll.
This is the original concept sketch of the Cornhusk Couture ensemble.
Stitched with Love
This close up shows the incredibly tiny hexagon shaped glass seed beads that were meticulously hand beaded along the entire edge of both the top and skirt.
To complete the head to toe look we created these Cornhusk Couture high heels. The fabric detail is so close to that of real cornhusk that you almost cannot tell the difference.
Sweet Little Story
When owner/designer Donna Decontie-Brown was a child, she vividly remembers making cornhusk dolls amongst the sunflowers in her grandmother’s garden on the Algonquin reserve of Kitigan Zibi in Maniwaki, Quebec.
Bumble Bee Blessing
During the fashion show a very curious honey bee swooped in for a closer look at our Sunflower Statement Ring.
